It’s World Tourism Day but let’s face it, the year 2020 isn’t like most for travel and tourism. It’s unlikely you can go on the holiday you had planned so if you’re thinking on embarking on a dog-friendly day out or holiday we’ve got plenty of ideas for dog-friendly activities to enjoy and places to go in Scotland.
Country Park and Pub
Drive 30 minutes from Cumbernauld to Mugdock Country Park and explore the 270 hectares of woodland, moorland and heathland; all connected by a network of paths which are great for adventures with your pooch. Mugdock Country Park is situated north of East Dunbartonshire and south-west of Stirling. It contains a loch, 2 castles, a stables complex and walled garden. Better yet the Mugdock Visitor Centre and Public Toilets are now open and the parking is free.

The Old Mill, Killearn
Once you’ve built up an appetitive you’ll be feeling hungry. The Old Mill in the beautiful and picturesque town of Killearn is just a short 15 minutes drive away. The drive itself is worth the trip as you pass the scenic point of Dumgoyne as well as some stunning views through the Campie Fells to Loch Lomond. This adorable and cosy pub has a fantastic menu, great service and an outdoor seating area so rest assured you’ll be well fed and looked after. How To Get There
Explore the Whitelees Wind Farm & Visitor Centre
Whitelees is the UK's largest Windfarm and just 20 minutes from Glasgow it’s a fantastic day out for you, the dog and all the family. This largest onshore windfarm in the UK and second largest in Europe has 215 turbines located across Eaglesham Moor. Explore the trails and paths up close to the turbines and find interactive exhibits about renewable energy, demonstrating how the turbines work. On clear days you can see the peak of Ben Lomond and look towards the coast and you might be able to Arran in the distance. Pop into the Visitor Centre café for hot drinks and delicious locally sourced cakes and enjoy panoramic views of the windfarm as you do.

Tantallon Castle Beach Walk
If the weather is nice and the sun is shining this beach walk along the coast of North Berwick is a great adventure. This pleasant seaside town features an endless list of activities for all the family. The trip to Tantallon Castle is from the town is roughly an hour and a great way to get in plenty of exercise for you and the dog. Start by walking along Mislay Beach up to the Glen Golf Club. Once the beach ends, walk up the road to the golf course. At the top, to your left, you should see a small path between the tall grass. It's possible to walk parallel to the shore without intruding on the fairways but beware of golfers and their balls.
